What cookies are and how we use them

Please note that we utilize "cookies" for the limited purpose of tracking your current shopping activity. A cookie is a small file containing your personal information that is placed on your hard drive for record-keeping purposes. Only that information which you provide to us is included in the cookie, and cookies cannot take any additional information from your hard drive.

Cookies are placed in your browser for your convenience. By using cookies, web sites are able to recognize you when you revisit the site, and thus able to remember certain information about you, such as your preferences in the site. Many merchant systems use cookies to track shopping information as customers move throughout the shopping site. Note that when products are added to your shopping cart, cookies are used to remember what you have selected so you can take your time shopping and adding products to your shopping cart.

How to set your browser to accept cookies

If you're using Internet Explorer 5, go to the Tools menu (IE ver 4 go to View menu) and select Internet Options. Within the Internet Options window, select the Advanced tab at the top right, scroll down until you see a selection titled "Cookies," and make sure the "Always accept cookies" box is checked. If you're using Internet Explorer 6, go to the Tools menu / Internet Options select the Privacy tab and lower the slider to the Low positon

If you're using Netscape Navigator, go to the Options menu and select Network Preferences. Within the Network Preferences window, select the Protocols tab. There is a heading titled "Show an Alert Before" and a check box next to a selection titled "Accepting a Cookie". If this is not checked, you will automatically accept cookies without being warned by your browser.

All online orders are processed through the Yahoo Merchant Solutions commerce system, which provides SSL based encryption technology to ensure your transactions are private and protected. SSL encrypts the transmissions from both our server, as well as your own computer.

Why am I not getting a "Secure Lock" on my screen?

MountainChalet uses various frames to simplify navagation, so you can easily browse our site and move between different sections without having to reload all the navagation butttons, etc. This allows a faster browser & shopping experience especially for people with slower internet connections, however this may sometimes prevent a secure lock to be displayed on some systems. As you can see the center frame handles all the product selection and checkout information and is always secure.
